Zeus Street Greek
Brisbane City & Chermside
Greek street food has landed in Brisbane and it’s brought along plenty of vegan options. Firstly, Zeus offers a vegan meze board with dips, falafel, roast red capsicum, pita, dolmades & kalamata olives. Additionally, the Cousin Nikki kebab with zucchini falafel, roast capsicum, salad and smokey eggplant sauce is pretty epic. Still hungry? Check out their traditional Greek donuts with cinnamon sugar and walnuts or the almond baklava.
One of the only veggie takeout places in the central business district, Vege Rama brings you delicious fast food from around the word. From vegan lasagne to Mexican enchilada pie, you’ll definitely find something you love.
Charlie’s Raw Squeeze
Head to Charlie’s for smoothies, juices, salads, cakes & cookies. Even better, everything is 100% vegan!
This açai joint creates truly instagrammable bowls that really look too good to eat. Vegan favorites from the menu include the Mango Weiss with açai-mango base, granola, vanilla coco yogurt, mango and coco flakes. Also, the choc PB protein bowl with choc-banana base, vegan protein, granola, banana, crushed peanuts, cacao nibs and PB is a fab choice. Recently, Coco Bliss have added a vegan falafel bowl to their menu and it’s unbelievably delicious.
Lord of the Fries
With a huge range of burgers, hot dogs, tacos & general vegan junk food available, you can never really go wrong with Lord of the Fries. Available in all of Australia’s major cities, it’s the absolute mecca of vegan fast food and a must-try in when you’re in the Valley. Most importantly, LOTF opens early to serve a variety of McDonald’s-style breakfast muffins which are 100% plant-based.
Botanica Real Food
Red Hill, Camp Hill and Teneriffe
You’ll find Brisbane’s most epic salads at Botanica Real Food. The whole place is veggie and a lot of the rotating dishes are vegan too. Don’t miss their excellent coffee and plant-based raw treats either.
Undoubtedly, this chain is the best in Australia when it comes to vegan burritos. Far superior to spiced cauliflower or sautéed veggies, Mad Mex offers a spicy vegan chicken filling that can be added to burritos, nachos, tacos or quesadillas. Alternatively, you can choose the veggie rancheros tofu-based filling and pile your meal high with all of the classic toppings including vegan cheese and guac.
Soul Origin has got your lunch breaks sorted, offering incredible salads like the green lentil, freekeh & kale salad with edamame beans, wasabi peas & matcha dressing. Also, they do a mexi-bean salad with corn, crisp capsicum, Mexican dressing and fresh avocado.
Obviously, potato is beautiful in all forms. But there’s something extra special about a baked jacket with a fluffy inside & crispy skin. Spudbar has well and truly mastered the art. Vegan punters can enjoy the Moroccan chickpea & kale spud with wild rocket, quinoa grains mix, beetroot, spring onion & hummus. As well as this, they do a poké spud which consists of beetroot, corn, avocado, edamame & seaweed piled on top of soft sweet potato.
Salad & smoothie bar Grazegrind offers four falafel-based vegan bowls including the hummus bowl, pesto bowl & teriyaki bowl all stuffed to the brim with veggies and flavor.
Zambrero caters for vegans with a tasty spiced cauliflower burrito with vegan cheese, vegan sour cream, guac, salad & your choice of zesty sauce. You can also get rice bowls and nachos if bread ain’t your thing.

It’s fast, cheap & greasy but sometimes it’s exactly what you need after one too many schooners the night before. Hungry Jacks are the first big fast food chain in Australia to introduce a mock-meat burger to their menu and I’ve got to say the ‘Rebel Whopper’ has fooled meat-eaters more than once. *Make sure you ask for vegan mayo to keep it plant-based.
Dealing in all things wrapped, this café has some excellent vegan options including a teriyaki tofu wrap with pickled ginger & salad. My personal favorite is the satay tofu wrap with warm peanut sauce, cucumber & lettuce.
I know I know, Subway isn’t the first place that comes to mind when you think of vegan food, but there are a couple of great options for plant-based diners. Unlike its UK counterpart, the Australian veggie-patty is egg-free and delicious accompanied with veggies and sweet mustard sauce. Alternatively, you can opt for a falafel smash sub with avo and sweet onion sauce. The subway branches in Brisbane are particularly noteworthy because they sell the epic Lumi soft-serve icecream which is dairy free and pretty insane.
Suki Poké Bar
Unlike most poké joints that only offer one vegan protein option, Suki offers tempeh, tofu and crispy tempura beans. Choose from dozens of veggies and spicy mango, coconut & lime dressing or sriracha ponzu sauce to complete your masterpiece.
Frankee & Co.
Frankee’s does some great vegan options including toasties, açai bowls and a daily selection of sweet baked goods. Even better, they do loads of fresh vegan salads & their coffee is highly rated among locals.
