The Best Vegan Fine Dining in Brisbane

Vegan dining isn’t always about finding the best plant-based burgers or pizza a city has to offer. Sometimes, you want to dress up, go to an upscale restaurant and be treated like royalty. Whilst the Brisbane vegan fine dining scene was pretty much non-existent a couple of years back, now plenty of high-end restaurants have added vegan set-menus to their offering. Whether it’s a special occasion or you’re just feeling fancy, keep scrolling for the ultimate list of vegan fine-dining restaurants in Brisbane.

Bacchus
South Bank

Bacchus was the first establishment to open up the Brisbane fine-dining scene to vegans. Their five-course vegan degustation menu is executed to the highest standard imaginable and it can be paired with wines. The incredible menu includes celeriac with a sesame, lemongrass & roast potato broth, as well as hand-rolled Italian spaghetti with white garlic, pea and basil. Even better, they do a brilliant chocolate brownie with strawberries & fruit sorbet.

Rogue Bistro
Newstead

Offering the only seven-course vegan degustation in Brisbane, Rogue Bistro is perfect for a special occasion. First, you’ll be served quinoa crusted asparagus with spiced corn purée. Next, get excited about gingerbread cauliflower with carrot jam & vegan cream cheese. For dessert, you’ll enjoy vegan wattleseed cheesecake with fig and passionfruit purée.

Signature at Emporium Hotel
Southbank

Signature is the crème-de-la-crème of Emporium’s culinary offerings and they do an excellent vegan degustation menu. To start, you’ll enjoy garden vegetables with artichoke mousse and olive soil. Next, heirloom beetroot with celeriac purée, quince & pickled blackberry is on the cards. Also, for the cheese course, you’ll be served tofu cheesecake with miso glazed fig and almond crumb.

Otto
Brisbane City

Finally an Italian restaurant in the city has curated a dedicated vegan menu and it was definitely worth the wait. Head to Otto and begin with beetroot, pistachio and horseradish ravioli with vegan cheese. Afterwards, give the saffron risotto with salsa verde & broccolini a go. Need something for your sweet tooth? Order the chocolate mousse with cherry sorbet, coconut granita and chocolate crumb.

GOMA Restaurant
South Brisbane

Naturally, Queensland’s critically acclaimed art gallery has a fine dining restaurant attached to it where renowned chefs will cook you up a five-course vegan tasting menu with 48 hours’ notice. Sadly, there is no sample menu online, but personally I think the element of surprise makes it that little bit more exciting.

Detour
Woolloongabba

Detour offers modern contemporary cuisine with a half omnivore/half herbivore menu. Masterfully curated vegan dishes include king brown mushrooms with chestnut paté, sage & sunflower seeds. Also, try the Hawaiian curry with sweet potato, coconut & lychees.

Alchemy
Brisbane City

Located at Riverside Pier overlooking the magnificent Story Bridge, Alchemy provides the best dinner views in the city. With a separate veggie menu available, my top pick is the saffron risotto with peas, asparagus & zucchini flower petals. Similarly, the strozzapreti pasta with white wine sauce, chilli, broccolini and brioche crumbs is a great option.

Deer Duck Bistro
Auchenflower

Located in Auchenflower, Deer Duck Bistro offers a unique fine dining experience in a French Renaissance setting. Vegan options include charred & curried parsnip and sweet & spicy pear with bhujia. Alternatively, another great choice is the cauliflower with hummus, cumin caramel, pomegranate, garlic and tahini.

Saké
Brisbane City

This upmarket Japanese restaurant located at Eagle Street Pier cooks up nasu dengaku (miso-roasted eggplant), veggie tempura, miso soup & veggie sushi rolls with shiitake and wasabi sesame sauce. Luckily, there are no animal-derived ingredients used in the saké brewing process so you can go all out on their traditional Japanese rice wine too.

Libertine Restaurant
Brisbane City

Bringing together French & Vietnamese flavours, vegan diners at Libertine can enjoy Hanoi vegetable Hot Pot with fresh coconut cream or mushroom and tofu San Choi Baos with a side of crispy chilli eggplant.

Vintaged Bar + Grill
Brisbane City

Located inside Brisbane City’s Hilton Hotel, Vintaged offers a fine dining menu with vegan options such as the vine-ripened tomato salad with smoked sesame cheeze, black olives and garlic croutons. Next, order the miso-marinated eggplant with macadamias, puffed rice & black garlic for your main course.

Donna Chang
Brisbane City

Modern Chinese cuisine can be found in the most beautiful setting at Donna Chang on George Street. Feast on fried eggplant with fragrant green chilli & ginger or king abalone mushroom with black funghi, enoki & chive. Also, the stir-fried snow pea tendrils with shaoxing & garlic is a great accompaniment to any dish.

Gerard’s Restaurant
Fortitude Valley

With a firm place on Australia’s top 100 list, you can expect great things from Gerard’s restaurant. Vegan options include a vegetable mezze with chickpea miso, and eggplant with almond tarator & fine herbs. As well as this, they offer charred cabbage skewers with ras el hanout.
