By far my favourite place in Southern Queensland, Noosa is a little slice of paradise that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. From rugged coastline & captivating forests to white sandy beaches & calm dazzling blue bays, you could spend weeks exploring all that the area has to offer. The recent Australian bushfires have opened our eyes to the impact humans are having on our natural environment and I believe if we can all make our holidays a little more sustainable, the impact will be overwhelmingly positive. Check out the Noosa Eco-Friendly Accommodation Guide below!
Habitat Noosa Everglades Ecocamp
Set amongst 65 acres of lush greenery and with 500 metres of private beachfront on the stunning Noosa River, Habitat Noosa provides an eco-camp experience you’ll never forget. The accommodation utilizes minimal electricity and focuses on reconnecting with nature without the high-tech gadgets that dominate our everyday lives. Whether you choose to stay in an en-suite Paperbark teepee or a cosy campout-style Wilderness tent, you’re guaranteed to have a blissful night’s sleep under the stars.
Located at Elanda Point, you can spend your day exploring Cooloola National Park or making friends with the large eastern grey kangaroo population that also live in the eco-resort. If you’re feeling adventurous, Habitat Noosa offers eco-tours such as kayaking, paddle boarding & boat trips through the sub-tropical rainforest of the Everglades wetlands.
One of the best things about camping is outdoor BBQs and campfire snacks, but if cooking ain’t your thing you can head to Habitat’s very own Coothara restaurant. Serving up hearty dishes using local produce, a meal here is the perfect way to end a fun-filled day in the great outdoors. They have plenty of vegan-friendly options on the menu and to make things even better, they have their own brewery on-site offering 4 signature beers.
Pepper’s Resort is nestled amongst the trees on the edge of Noosa National Park, offering either breathtaking sea views or calming rainforest outlooks from the balconies of its luxury rooms and private villas. Powered by solar energy and a rainwater harvesting system, sustainability and protection of the natural environment is at the heart of the resort’s ethos.
Amongst the trees at Pepper’s you’ll also find Stephanie’s Ocean Spa, offering a range of vegan treatments using their very own collection of cruelty free beauty products.
Noosa Tree Top Eco Retreat
Waking up in a tree top Balinese ensuite room that overlooks lush rainforest sounds pretty out-of-this-world, and you can experience this for a very reasonable price at Noosa Tree Top Eco Retreat. Boasting floor to ceiling windows overlooking Noosa National park, a private outdoor shower & bathroom and a spacious deck with hammocks, the tree top retreat is the ultimate destination for a relaxing weekend away. As if that wasn’t enough, guests have access to the in-house yoga studio and the option to book a professional massage on the terrace of the property.
Noosa River Holiday Park
Sleeping in a tent is about as eco as it gets, and waking up on the shores of the Noosa River takes camping to a whole new level. Noosa River Holiday Park is located at THE most beautiful spot – imagine waking up, unzipping your tent, walking a couple of meters and gliding into the perfect blue waters of Noosa River for a morning swim. The bathroom & kitchen amenities here are spotless, so it’s easy to pitch up your tent on an unpowered site & have a wonderful eco-friendly holiday with minimal effort required.
Beach Road Holiday Homes
Tucked away in peaceful Noosa North Shore, Beach Road Holiday Homes have been expertly designed with the environment in mind. Cosy wooden villas painted in soft colours blend perfectly with the surrounding bushland and maintain nature’s tranquil balance. Tall ceilings and full length windows flood the villas with natural sunlight and reduce the need for energy-consuming artificial lighting. Guests at Beach Road can enjoy use of the huge outdoor swimming pool & on-site tennis court during their stay.
